The Koloniste van Catan is a board game developed in 1995 by Klaus Teubur. The game became hugely successful in Europe selling over 20 million copies. The game has even been adapted into an online video game and requires players to seek uninhabited land, start to build settlements by exploiting resources and eventually building a city or mega-city. The sound track is a combination of remixing an interview with Didier Rykner from La tribune de L’art on France24 in which he rejects the French report ordered by president Macron about the repatriation of African Art; Guido Gryseels the director of the newly reopened Africa Museum in Terveuren and youtube videos published by the media of responses from visitors at the museum. Images from magazines, advertisements and comic-books collected on the streets of Belgium and games played by children represent to me an important archive of visual history and mark the specific ways in which ideologies are passed down from generation to generation in the most insidious and abstract ways.
