Lower School Philip Bishop Day honors the legacy of Philip “Doc” Bishop. Students enjoy a day of field games, practicing competition, cooperation, and sportsmanship. Hear Board Chairman Bill Yoh ’89 reflect on his memories of the day.
Philip “Doc” Bishop came to The Haverford School in 1903 from King’s College, Isle of Man, to direct gymnastic and cricket activities at the School. Bishop retired from the School in 1932 but continued daily visits until his death in 1938.
Located on the Main Line, in the suburbs of Philadelphia, The Haverford School is a private elementary school, middle school, and high school serving boys pre-k-12. The Haverford School prepares boys for life.
